Anthropic CEO to dine with Trump at White House

bluewin.ch (French) —

Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei is expected to have a one-on-one dinner with President Donald Trump at the White House on Sunday evening, according to multiple US media reports, following months of open conflict with the administration. The dinner, confirmed to AFP by a source familiar with the plan, would be the first private meeting between the two men. It comes two days after a federal appeals court upheld the Pentagon's decision to classify Anthropic as a "supply chain risk," barring the US military from using its models. The startup was sanctioned after refusing in February to allow its tools for fully autonomous weapons or domestic mass surveillance. Trump has publicly criticized Amodei, who on September 12 called for a "pause" in AI development, accusing him of "pretending to be a perfect little angel." Amodei was absent from Thursday's state dinner for Chinese President Xi Jinping, which most major AI leaders attended. Trump dismissed safety concerns on Fox News, saying AI "could be more important than the industrial revolution."
