Pau bans Gilets jaunes protests in city center on October 24
The prefect of Pyrénées-Atlantiques has banned all protests in central Pau on Saturday, October 24, from 6 a.m. to 2 a.m. the next day, ahead of a planned Gilets jaunes demonstration. The ban covers over a dozen streets and squares, including Place Clemenceau and nearby streets like Joffre, Foch, and Serviez, plus areas around the town hall, the Bosquet sector, and the central market halls. The street housing the national police station, Rue O'Quin, is also included. During the same period, authorities prohibit carrying protective equipment meant to thwart police operations, as well as pyrotechnic items, firecrackers, smoke bombs, fireworks, and any weapons, including replicas, across the entire city center.
