Paris approves protest route for October 24 march

rmc.bfmtv.com (French) —

The Paris police prefecture approved a protest route for Saturday, October 24, the "act 2" of the post-October 17 mobilization. The march will start at Bastille and end at Nation. The route, proposed by unions including the CGT, was validated Thursday. It will follow Rue de Lyon, Avenue Daumesnil, and other streets through the 12th arrondissement, avoiding areas heavily impacted by violence last week. A separate student route from Bastille to Opéra was banned. Police prefect Patrice Faure cited recent exactions as reason for caution. Security forces will be 20% higher than last week. Separately, Lyon's prefecture banned all demonstrations Saturday following violence and looting on October 17.
