The game, titled simply StarCraft, was presented by vice president Dan Hay. The announcement included a three-minute cinematic trailer called "Dominion," which depicts the human Dominion faction's struggle. Hay described the project as a grounded shooter where players must earn every step on the ground, in mud and fire, honoring the franchise's past. The trailer's description calls on the sons and daughters of the Dominion to continue the sacrifice of previous defenders. The project marks a significant genre shift for the series, which was previously known for real-time strategy games.
