Netanyahu orders Mossad and military to topple Iran's regime
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced Sunday he ordered the Mossad and military to overthrow Iran's regime, two days before parliamentary elections, claiming only his government can eliminate the nuclear threat. Netanyahu said Israeli and US strikes destroyed 90 percent of Iran's nuclear capacity, though independent analyses dispute this, with Iran reportedly retaining much of its 60-percent enriched uranium stockpile. He also accused main rival Gadi Eisenkot of readiness to reach a deal with Tehran. Tuesday's Knesset elections occur amid deep political divisions, with Netanyahu presenting himself as the only leader capable of ensuring security while opponents blame him for failures preceding the October 7, 2023 Hamas attack and the Gaza war conduct.
