US sends nearly $400M in military aid to Ukraine, but no Patriot missiles

The Trump administration has legally committed to spending nearly all $400 million in US military aid for Ukraine approved by Congress, though the package excludes Patriot missile system interceptors, according to Reuters. As of early this week, $307 million in commitments had been formalized, with the remaining $93 million planned by September 30, the end of the US fiscal year. Initial deliveries of offensive weapons and equipment, including spare parts for armored vehicles, began this month, with the rest expected by October 2029. The exclusion of Patriot missiles comes despite ongoing Russian drone and ballistic missile attacks on Ukrainian cities. President Volodymyr Zelensky announced on September 24 an agreement for a new Patriot missile package without specifying the country, and on September 25 said Trump had made a final decision on transferring licenses for Patriot missile production to Ukraine.
