US aid package for Ukraine excludes Patriot missiles, Reuters reports

The US administration has committed nearly all of the $400 million in congressionally approved military aid for Ukraine, but the package will not include Patriot missiles despite Kyiv's requests, according to Reuters sources. As of early this week, $307 million of the $400 million allocated under the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative had been obligated, with the remaining $93 million planned for reservation before the fiscal year ends on September 30. The funding has been contentious in Congress, with Democrats and some Trump allies criticizing the Pentagon for delays in aid that both parties voted for in December. Initial deliveries, including offensive weapons and equipment such as spare parts for armored vehicles, began this month, with remaining shipments expected to continue until October 2029. Trump's term ends in January of that year, and one source confirmed the package excludes Patriot interceptor missiles.
