US declines to send Patriot missiles to Ukraine in $400M aid package

gazeta.ru (Russian) —

The US administration has decided not to include Patriot interceptor missiles in a $400 million military aid package for Ukraine, according to Reuters sources. The aid, which will be delivered to Kyiv by October 2029, includes weapons and spare parts for armored vehicles, but no Patriot missiles. The US ambassador to NATO said demand from allies exceeds supply. Ambassador Matthew Whitaker stated that increasing production in the US and Europe is the solution, as the missiles are highly specialized and time-consuming to make. Licensing talks for Ukrainian production are ongoing, but this won't help Kyiv in the short term, including this winter.
