US Diesel Export Threat Sends Global Prices Up 10 Percent

nettavisen.no (Swedish)

International diesel prices jumped 10 percent from Tuesday to Wednesday, reaching around $1,500 per ton, after US President Donald Trump said he would halt US diesel exports. The White House is considering a total or partial export ban due to record-high US diesel prices, which are up 75 percent in a year. Nordea analyst Thina Saltvedt says this looks bad for Europe, as US exports have risen 31 percent. The price surge follows Middle East conflict damage to Saudi pipelines and Ukrainian attacks on Russian oil infrastructure. For Norwegian drivers, the international price adds 11.95 kroner per liter before taxes, with diesel prices recently fluctuating between 24 and 31 kroner.
