US agents seized part of Argentine airport to help Flávio Bolsonaro flee, report says

oglobo.globo.com (Portuguese) —

US agents reportedly took control of part of an Argentine airport last Wednesday to help Senator Flávio Bolsonaro flee to the United States, according to Argentine newspaper Clarín. The operation allegedly involved assistance from parts of the Argentine government. Clarín reported that American agents, including a former DEA member, coordinated the escape with at least four private aircraft and support from President Javier Milei's advisor Santiago Caputo. Airport security, immigration, and customs officials were kept away during the senator's departure from Iguazú airport. Flávio Bolsonaro entered Argentina by land from Brazil, traveling over 1,000 kilometers by car with six decoy vehicles. He crossed the border around 10:30 p.m., boarded a Gulfstream jet through a secret entrance, and departed after a 40-minute wait.
