Brazilian Deputy André Janones Rules Out Ministerial Role, Stays in Chamber
Brazilian federal deputy André Janones announced he will not accept a ministerial position in President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva's government, stating he will remain in the Chamber of Deputies. He made the declaration in a Fantástico TV program interview aired Sunday, November 1. Janones, who led the digital campaign "Exército do Lula" during the election's second round, said a ministry role would limit his political activism, describing himself as needing to remain a "guerrilla" defender of the government. He also confirmed he will stay with the Sustainability Network party, citing loyalty and independence. The WhatsApp channel he created surpassed ten million followers during the campaign and faced legal challenges from the opposing camp. Janones, re-elected in 2026 with 78,780 votes, previously abandoned a presidential bid to support Lula and has been a federal deputy since 2018.
