Bolsonaro's Secret Escape to the United States
Flavio Bolsonaro, the loser of Brazil's presidential election, fled to the United States with his family, evading a court order to surrender his passport and an Interpol red notice issued by the ruling party. The escape occurred last Tuesday, the day after he publicly pledged to remain in Brazil. He crossed into Argentina with his wife and two daughters, aided by allies of Donald Trump, before flying to Miami via Ecuador. A Supreme Court judge had flagged a "concrete risk" of him leaving the country. Bolsonaro faces federal investigations for money laundering and claims he is a victim of persecution. His senatorial immunity expires in January. He thanked Argentine President Javier Milei for assistance, while Trump stated Bolsonaro can stay in the U.S. "as long as he wants."
