Typhoon No. 27 to Approach Ogasawara Islands Oct 5-6, May Bring Strong Winds and Rain to Kanto Coast
Large and strong Typhoon No. 27 is forecast to approach the Ogasawara Islands around October 5-6 with very strong intensity, potentially bringing violent winds, heavy rain, and high waves to the region. As of 6 p.m. on October 3, the typhoon was located near the Mariana Islands, moving north-northeast at about 20 km/h with a central pressure of 960 hPa and maximum sustained winds of 40 m/s. It is expected to intensify, with central pressure dropping to 925 hPa by October 5. After passing the Ogasawara Islands, the typhoon is projected to move northward east of Japan, with landfall unlikely. Coastal areas of the Kanto region, including Chiba Prefecture, may see stronger winds and rain around October 6.
