Typhoon No. 27 to approach Ogasawara Islands Oct 5-6, Kanto coast faces strong winds and rain
Large and strong Typhoon No. 27 is forecast to approach the Ogasawara Islands with very strong intensity around October 5-6, with strong winds and rain also expected along the Kanto coast on October 6. As of 6 p.m. on October 3, the typhoon was located near the Mariana Islands, moving north-northeast at about 20 km/h with a central pressure of 960 hPa and maximum sustained winds of 40 m/s. It is expected to reach the waters near Ogasawara with very strong intensity by the morning of October 4. The Japan Meteorological Agency forecasts the typhoon to become a extratropical cyclone east of Japan by October 7. Residents in the Ogasawara Islands should be on alert for high waves, very strong winds, and heavy rain.
