Mitsotakis: New support measures possible, but no fiscal risks

ethnos.gr (Greek) —

Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said from Brussels that additional support measures for households and businesses are possible, while ruling out pre-election handouts that would jeopardize fiscal stability. Mitsotakis stated Greece has fiscal room for targeted, temporary interventions, unlike other EU countries under excessive deficit procedures. He stressed support will continue based on crisis developments, but rejected "magical European solutions" and warned Greece cannot remain unaffected by global turmoil. He also advocated protecting EU agricultural and cohesion funding alongside 15 other countries, and urged a green transition that does not burden industry competitiveness. He avoided predicting a budget agreement by December, calling the first half of 2027 difficult.
