Wall Street and European markets rise as oil prices ease
Wall Street is expected to open higher and European markets are trading up Tuesday, supported by falling oil prices and a rebound in technology stocks. This follows a selloff in the sector and ahead of Nvidia's earnings and a key US inflation indicator. Oil prices declined despite Middle East tensions, with Brent falling 2.92% to $89.48 and WTI dropping 2.92% to $82.53, both below the $90 mark. Treasury yields eased after reports the US could buy back long-term debt, while tech shares recovered ahead of Nvidia's results Wednesday. The PCE price index, a key inflation gauge, will be released Wednesday, with recent data moderating expectations for a Fed rate hike in September. Bitcoin surpassed $80,000 for the first time since mid-May, while gold fell 0.6% to $4,624 an ounce.
