Asian chipmakers rebound ahead of Nvidia earnings
Asian chipmakers recovered on Wednesday as investors positioned ahead of Nvidia's earnings report. South Korea's KOSPI rose 1.8%, Japan's Nikkei 225 gained 0.9%, and China's CSI 300 climbed 1.2%, signaling broad tech sector strength. The rebound followed last week's sharp selloff driven by rising US Treasury yields and profit-taking after an AI-fueled rally. Wall Street expects Nvidia to report about $92 billion in revenue and adjusted earnings per share of $2.09 for its second fiscal quarter. South Korean memory chip makers SK Hynix and Samsung Electronics rose 1.9% and 1.8% respectively, as both are key suppliers of high-bandwidth memory for AI data centers. However, concerns persist over high borrowing costs and political resistance to rapid AI infrastructure expansion.
