European markets mixed as investors await Nvidia results, Fed symposium

European stock markets closed mixed Tuesday on low trading volumes as investors awaited Nvidia's earnings and the Federal Reserve's Jackson Hole symposium. Frankfurt led gains, rising 0.61% on an upward revision to German second-quarter growth, while London added 0.29% and Milan rose 0.34%. Paris fell 0.16%. Brussels' Bel20 index hit a new record high of 5,837.52 points, surpassing Monday's peak. Chip designer Melexis rose 1.96% to €65.05 after becoming a direct supplier to Chinese automaker BYD. Grid operator Elia gained 0.63% ahead of its Ventilus project start. Chemical firm Syensqo fell 2.22% despite Kepler Cheuvreux raising its price target.
