Futures steady as markets await inflation data and Nvidia earnings
Stock futures were little changed Tuesday night as investors awaited key inflation data and Nvidia's quarterly earnings, both due Wednesday. Dow futures fell 11 points, while S&P 500 futures were flat and Nasdaq-100 futures rose slightly. The July personal consumption expenditures price index, the Federal Reserve's preferred inflation gauge, is set for release Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. ET. Economists expect a 0.1% monthly increase and a 3.6% annual rise. Nvidia's results are due after the bell, with Wall Street projecting earnings per share of $2.09 on $92.28 billion in revenue. The major averages posted gains Tuesday, with the S&P 500 up 0.3% and the Nasdaq rising 0.7%, supported by falling Treasury yields. Investors also await Fed Chairman Kevin Warsh's Friday speech at Jackson Hole, though he may avoid detailed policy commentary.
