Nikkei rebounds after 3-day slide as Fujikura adds 60 points
The Nikkei average rebounded for the first time in three days, closing the morning session at 65,598.68 yen, up 70.59 points, with Fujikura alone contributing about 60 yen to the index's rise. The market opened lower following a decline in the US Nasdaq, but buying back emerged as oil futures and US long-term yields stabilized. Advancers outnumbered decliners 139 to 83, with Fujikura leading gains and Advantest dragging the index down by about 190 yen. US markets were mixed on Monday, with the Dow rising on lower oil prices while the Nasdaq fell on semiconductor weakness ahead of Nvidia's earnings. Sector performance was split, with nonferrous metals and insurance rising while transport equipment and machinery declined.
