Trump's approval rating falls to record low as Iran war and economy weigh on voters

President Donald Trump's approval rating has fallen to 32 percent, the lowest of his political career, according to a new Reuters/Ipsos poll, driven by Republican discontent over his handling of the cost of living amid the Iran war. The four-day poll, closing Sunday, showed Republican approval dropped to 73 percent from 82 percent a week earlier, with overall approval down from 35 percent. Only 17 percent of respondents approved of his cost-of-living management, the top issue for voters ahead of November's midterm elections. Trump returned to office in January 2025 on promises to tame inflation and end foreign wars, initially enjoying a 47 percent approval rating. The Iran war, launched in February, has pushed fuel prices higher, and for the first time, Republicans disapproving of his cost-of-living handling outnumber those approving, 51 to 44 percent.
