Trump's approval hits new low as Republicans sour on Iran war costs

A new Ipsos poll shows US President Donald Trump's approval rating has fallen to 32 percent, the lowest of his political career, as fellow Republicans grow dissatisfied with his handling of living costs during the unpopular war against Iran, Reuters reports. The survey, completed Sunday, showed support among his own party members dropped from 82 to 73 percent in a week. Only 17 percent of respondents approved of his handling of living costs, the top issue determining votes in the November 3 midterm elections. Trump's overall support fell from 35 percent last week. Trump returned to the White House in January 2025 with promises to curb inflation and end foreign wars, holding 47 percent approval at that time. His current rating is lower than Joe Biden's lowest-ever mark of 35 percent. Only 34 percent back the Iran strikes, which began in February and have driven up fuel prices.
