Trump approval hits record low of 32% as Republicans sour on cost-of-living response

President Donald Trump's approval rating has fallen to a career-low 32%, according to a new Reuters/Ipsos poll, as dissatisfaction grows over his handling of the cost of living amid the unpopular Iran war, with voters leaning away from Republicans in the November midterm elections. Support among Republicans dropped to 73% from 82% a week earlier, and for the first time, more Republicans disapprove of his cost-of-living handling than approve, 51% to 44%. Only 17% of all respondents approve of his economic approach, and just 34% back the Iran strikes, which have driven fuel prices sharply higher. The poll shows Democrats leading Republicans 43% to 35% in congressional voting preferences, the largest gap this year. Trump's rating is below Joe Biden's low of 35%. The survey of 1,277 US adults was conducted online with a 3-point margin of error.
