Trump vows to end US funding for Israel
US President Donald Trump announced Washington will stop providing Israel with $4 billion in annual aid, claiming an agreement with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to end the payments. The statement comes amid declining support for Israel among American voters, particularly Democrats. Trump said Israel no longer needs the assistance as it has become a successful country, though the US will help "when necessary." A current memorandum provides Israel $3.8 billion yearly in military aid through 2028, and Trump accused Democrats of using the funding to criticize Republicans. Support for Israel has dropped among Americans since the Gaza war began in 2023. Trump also mentioned Michigan Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed, who opposes unconditional military support, and recently spoke with Netanyahu before potential renewed strikes on Iran.
