Herzog Receives Official Election Results, Calls for Probe Into Foreign Interference Suspicions
Israeli President Isaac Herzog received the official results of the 26th Knesset elections from Central Elections Committee Chairman Justice Noam Sohlberg on Wednesday, beginning consultations on tasking a lawmaker with forming a government. Herzog expressed full confidence in security and law enforcement agencies, calling for any suspicions of foreign interference in the election results to be thoroughly investigated by the Shin Bet and police. He also urged against smearing Arab society, condemning recent racist expressions. The president noted the consultations begin on the 31st anniversary of Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin's assassination, saying there is no place for physical or verbal violence. He acknowledged there is no clear winner and expects factions to show flexibility in negotiations.
