Israeli President Isaac Herzog has promised to announce a prime ministerial candidate this coming Sunday, November 8, according to RIA Novosti. He will continue consultations with parties to form a broad government. Parties holding a combined 67 mandates have recommended opposition leader Gadi Eisenkot for the role, while those with 46 seats support current Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Herzog noted contradictions between parties have prevented a clear choice. Herzog stated he will determine the candidate through direct talks with party leaders and intends to task a Knesset member with forming a government on Sunday. No bloc secured a majority in Israel's recent parliamentary elections.
