Israel's attorney general demands evidence in election fraud probe
Israel's Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara on Tuesday demanded the Shin Bet security service provide evidence justifying its investigation into alleged election fraud involving Arab parties, stating none has been presented so far. Baharav-Miara emphasized that investigations cannot proceed without supporting evidence, urging Shin Bet head David Zini to submit any proof to her oversight committee. She asserted that no one will be investigated absent evidence. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's Likud party accused the attorney general of obstructing the probe and covering up foreign election interference. Opposition leader Gadi Eisenkot countered by accusing Netanyahu of a "pogrom against democracy and the rule of law."
