ChatGPT plugin for Mac Messages raises privacy concerns

rbc.ua (Ukrainian)

OpenAI has launched a new plugin for ChatGPT on Mac that allows the AI to control Apple's Messages app, raising privacy concerns among security experts. The plugin enables users to have the chatbot draft replies based on previous conversations, delete texts, and search chat history. OpenAI states all operations run locally on the user's computer and no full message index is stored on external servers. Users must manually grant permissions, including Full Disk Access, and are warned against enabling persistent approval, which removes the final chance to review messages before sending.
