ChatGPT for Mac Adds Apple Messages Plugin

OpenAI has added an Apple Messages plugin to the ChatGPT desktop app for macOS, enabling ChatGPT Work and Codex to read, search, prepare, and send iMessage, SMS, and RCS conversations. The feature is available on all plans. The plugin can read and search Messages chats on a Mac and send messages on a user's behalf. By default, ChatGPT requires user approval before sending, with options for "Allow once" or "Always allow sending to this chat." Persistent approval removes final review, and users can restore per-send approval in Settings. The Messages plugin is included only in the Apple silicon build of the app. OpenAI notes a known issue where disabling approval prompts may prevent message sending. Administrators can disable the plugin, and the update also adds pinned threads, Codex snapshots, and Site co-editing.
