U.N. Report Says U.S. May Have Committed War Crimes in Iran

A United Nations fact-finding mission reported Thursday that the U.S. may have committed war crimes in Iran through indiscriminate attacks that killed civilians, including a strike on an elementary school that killed over 150 people. The report identified U.S. Tomahawk missile strikes on Tree of Tayyiba Elementary School in Minab and an alleged strike dispersing tungsten pellets over a sports complex in Lamerd, killing 22 civilians. The U.S. denied the Lamerd strike and said it did not consider the report credible. The mission also found Iranian authorities likely committed crimes against humanity in a crackdown on protesters, killing 3,038 people. The U.S. has launched an internal investigation into the Minab strike, attributing it potentially to outdated target coordinates.
