Typhoons 27 and 28 Strengthen Near Japan; Triple Typhoon Paths Tracked
Three typhoons are active simultaneously in the Pacific Ocean. Typhoon Choi-wan, the largest, has intensified into a "very strong" storm near the Ogasawara Islands with maximum instantaneous wind speeds of 70 m/s and a central pressure of 925 hPa, and it is currently moving northward. Typhoon Noru, located near the Midway Islands, is also "very strong" with 70 m/s winds and 950 hPa pressure, while Typhoon Koguma near the Marshall Islands is weaker at 25 m/s and 1000 hPa. Both are also moving toward Japan. Forecasts based on simulations updated through October 5 suggest all three typhoons will track northward east of Japan, with a low likelihood of significant impact on the Japanese archipelago. However, forecasts are updated daily, so the public should monitor the latest weather information.
