Three typhoons are active simultaneously after Typhoons 28 and 29 formed on the morning of October 5, joining Typhoon 27 in what is being called a "triple typhoon" event. As of noon on October 6, Typhoon 27 is a large, strong storm located east of Japan, moving north at 30 km/h with a central pressure of 950 hPa and maximum winds of 40 m/s. Typhoon 28 is very strong near Wake Island, moving west, while Typhoon 29 is weaker near the Marshall Islands, moving northwest. Forecasts show Typhoon 28 reaching Minami-Torishima's vicinity by the morning of October 8, and Typhoon 29 arriving there as a strong storm by the morning of October 9.
