Thierry Henry Responds to Ballon d'Or Ceremony Backlash
Thierry Henry has broken his silence with a three-minute video responding to criticism following several eyebrow-raising incidents during Monday’s Ballon d’Or ceremony. The 49-year-old co-host was slammed for comments about Lamine Yamal, Harry Kane, and correcting Kate Scott's pronunciation. Henry clarified he was joking with Yamal, saying he wasn't checking his ego and is a big fan. He stated Scott was in on the Socrates pronunciation joke, which Scott confirmed. Regarding Kane, Henry said he called him a worthy winner despite supporting fellow Frenchman Kylian Mbappe. Kane became the first Englishman to win the Ballon d’Or since Michael Owen in 2001, finishing ahead of Mbappe in second and Yamal in third. Henry, an Arsenal and Barcelona legend, co-hosted the London event with Scott for CBS Sports.
