Harry Kane wins Ballon d'Or, first English winner since 2001

bbc.com (French) —

Harry Kane has won the Ballon d'Or, becoming the first English player to claim the award since Michael Owen in 2001, at a ceremony in London. The 33-year-old Bayern Munich striker scored 61 goals in 51 club matches last season, a Bayern record, plus 12 for England. Kylian Mbappé finished second and Lamine Yamal third. Kane won despite not lifting the World Cup or Champions League, a rare feat. He is the first Bayern winner since Karl-Heinz Rummenigge in 1981.
