Harry Kane wins Ballon d'Or as Putellas takes women's prize for third time
Harry Kane won the 2026 Ballon d'Or, becoming the first Englishman to claim the award in 25 years, while Alexia Putellas secured the women's prize for a third time. The London ceremony also honored Lamine Yamal, Luis de la Fuente, and Unai Simón. Kane, 33, scored 73 goals for Bayern Munich and England during the 2025-2026 season, succeeding Frenchman Ousmane Dembélé. He beat Barcelona's Yamal and Real Madrid's Kylian Mbappé to the award, which was presented at the London Palladium theatre. Putellas, 32, matched compatriot Aitana Bonmatí's tally of three wins after helping Barcelona claim the Women's Champions League. De la Fuente won men's coach of the year after leading Spain to World Cup victory, while Yamal retained the young player award.
