Harry Kane wins 2026 Ballon d'Or in London
Harry Kane of Bayern Munich received the 2026 Ballon d'Or award. The 33-year-old English striker was honored in his native London for an exceptional goalscoring season, having scored 73 times in 65 matches for club and country. Kane became the fifth English player to win the award, with the ceremony moved to London to mark the 70th anniversary of Stanley Matthews' win. He achieved this without winning the Champions League or World Cup, as Bayern were eliminated in the semifinals of both competitions. Kane's victory came despite a tight race, described as the most tense ever, with Kylian Mbappe finishing second and Lamine Yamal third. Yamal won the Kopa Trophy, while Spain coach Luis de la Fuente took the Johan Cruyff Award.
