Tesla and SpaceX explore merger in potential $3 trillion deal
Tesla and SpaceX are exploring a merger that would create the largest corporate combination in history, with a combined market value exceeding three trillion dollars. SpaceX also reported a profit of 4.4 billion dollars after previous losses. Elon Musk said shareholder requests prompted the formation of special committees to examine the deal, and he recused himself due to potential conflicts of interest. Musk, the world's richest person with an estimated fortune of 920 billion dollars, noted that approval from at least 50 percent of Tesla shareholders would be required. SpaceX is currently valued at over 1.9 trillion dollars on the stock market, while Tesla is worth around 1.48 trillion dollars. The company's recent quarterly profit was driven by strong growth in its Starlink satellite internet business and AI data centers.
