Musk weighs Tesla-SpaceX merger to create $3.5T giant
Elon Musk confirmed on Tuesday that a merger between Tesla and SpaceX is under consideration, a move that would create one of the world's most valuable companies. He cited significant potential benefits in collaborating on superintelligence software development. SpaceX is valued at approximately $2 trillion, while Tesla is worth around $1.45 trillion. Musk stated that special committees at both companies have been formed to study the merger, though no agreement has been reached and there is no guarantee one will be achieved. Musk owns a majority of SpaceX, which he founded in 2002 with profits from PayPal's sale, but holds less than 15% of Tesla shares. The two companies are already deeply intertwined industrially and are both engaged in capital-intensive artificial intelligence projects.
