Susie Wiles steps down as White House chief of staff after Republican midterm defeat
Susie Wiles, the first female White House chief of staff, has stepped down three days after the Republican Party's midterm election defeat. President Donald Trump announced her move to his political operation on November 6. Trump indicated the change was part of a personnel reshuffle following the election results, marking the first such replacement in his administration. Wiles had faced speculation about her departure for weeks, with reports of succession battles and tensions over her handling of staff misconduct allegations. Wiles, who led Trump's 2024 campaign and was nicknamed "Ice Maiden" for her composure, is battling early-stage breast cancer. Deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller will succeed her.
