Stephen Miller replaces Susie Wiles as Trump's chief of staff
Susie Wiles is stepping down as White House chief of staff for US President Donald Trump, with Stephen Miller taking over the role, Trump announced on Truth Social. Wiles will move to a position in Trump's political organization. Miller, who served as deputy chief of staff and domestic policy adviser, has been the ideological architect behind Trump's hardline immigration and nationalist policies. He previously worked as a speechwriter and senior adviser during Trump's first term from 2017 to 2021. The appointment has drawn criticism, with House Democratic leader Hakeem Jeffries calling Miller a "dangerous xenophobe" and "ruthless extremist." Politico had reported three weeks ago that Miller might replace Wiles, which Trump denied at the time. Wiles said serving as chief of staff was "the honor of my life."
