The August 12 solar eclipse caused a 94% surge in UK streams of Bonnie Tyler's "Total Eclipse of the Heart" on Spotify, compared to a 14% global increase. This revival comes five weeks after Tyler's death on July 8, 2026, at age 75. Spotify data showed other celestial-themed songs also spiked, including "Moon Eclipsed the Sun" by Evolfo (up 12,817%) and Pink Floyd's "Eclipse" (up 594%). The UK experienced a deep partial eclipse, with totality visible over Greenland, Iceland, and parts of the Iberian Peninsula. The streaming boost coincides with public tributes in Mumbles, Wales, including a procession on August 15 and a tribute concert on August 16. Tyler's funeral is scheduled for August 17 at Swansea Minster. The 1983 hit, written by Jim Steinman, has surpassed 1.2 billion YouTube views and one billion Spotify streams.
