Fans sing 'Total Eclipse of the Heart' as Bonnie Tyler's coffin returns to Wales
Hundreds of fans lined the streets of a Welsh seaside village Saturday to bid farewell to singer Bonnie Tyler as her coffin, draped in a Welsh flag, was brought home. The 75-year-old died last month in Portugal following emergency intestinal surgery in May. Crowds in Mumbles sang her 1983 hit "Total Eclipse of the Heart" as the hearse passed, while others left floral tributes outside her former home. Tyler, born Gaynor Hopkins, was a coal miner's daughter from Skewen, Wales, and earned three Grammy nominations. The singer represented Britain at Eurovision in 2013 and was honored by Queen Elizabeth II in 2022. Her iconic ballad has surpassed 1 billion streams. A private celebration of her life is scheduled Monday in Swansea.
