Pakistan reports progress in Iran-US talks during Tehran visit

Pakistani officials reported significant progress in Tehran talks aimed at ending the US-Israel war on Iran, following a daylong diplomatic mission by the army chief and interior minister. The talks occurred Monday during a visit by Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, who met Iranian leaders including President Masoud Pezeshkian. Discussions focused on preventing escalation, reopening the Strait of Hormuz, and restoring the "Islamabad MoU" interim framework. The MoU, signed June 17, faltered after renewed Gulf ship seizures and strikes, expiring last week. Naqvi said the meeting concluded positively, while Pezeshkian urged the US to change its approach, warning that intimidation would complicate implementation.
