iFixit gives iPhone Duo its highest repairability score for a foldable phone
iFixit has awarded Apple's iPhone Duo a repairability score of 5 out of 10, the highest rating ever given to a foldable phone by the teardown experts. The review highlights both strengths and weaknesses in the device's design. The external screen and two battery cells are relatively easy to remove, and the outer frame can be detached without damage, unlike Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 8. However, UV-illuminated dust testing revealed particles entering the hinge mechanism, causing creaking sounds despite the phone's IP68 rating. The inner main screen and hinge remain the most problematic components to repair due to complex assembly. iFixit suggests screen cracking issues may stem from stress on the hinge's central support beam, though further investigation is needed.
