Brent crude tops $114, highest since April on Middle East tensions

dn.pt (Portuguese) —

Brent crude oil prices surpassed $114 per barrel, the highest level since April, driven by rising Middle East tensions and fears of global supply disruptions. The price rose 0.7% to $114.1 in London futures trading, after Iran's Revolutionary Guard attacked four tankers in the Persian Gulf. The US accused Iran of exaggerating attacks to inflate fuel prices, while Saudi Arabia intercepted a missile from Yemeni Houthi rebels. The Houthi attacks killed two people and targeted Saudi oil facilities, prompting the US to withdraw non-essential staff and consider a new offensive against Iran after the November 3 US elections.
