Zelensky meets Sánchez in Madrid for fifth Spain visit

letemps.ch (French) — November 5, 2026 at 01:01 AM UTC

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is in Madrid on Thursday to meet Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez during the 30th Ibero-American Summit, marking his fifth visit to Spain. Following the summit, Zelensky will hold talks with several leaders about Ukraine's situation, global repercussions, and international peace and security challenges. He stated on X that his priority is strengthening Ukraine's air defense and expanding defense cooperation. Separately, Ukraine's SBU security service dismissed two senior officials Wednesday amid a corruption investigation involving fraudulent call centers, with the NABU anti-corruption agency alleging the officials obstructed investigators and threatened them with a firearm.
