Drunken Goddess Reflux Devs Pull Steam Demo Over AI Clone Fears
The indie game Drunken Goddess Reflux has canceled its Steam Next Fest demo, opting for a closed playtest instead. Developers Alliance Arts and Who You cited concerns about generative AI clones and an inability to monitor gameplay footage. The demo was scheduled for Oct. 19, but the studio pulled it days before the event, apologizing to fans on X. They cited two reasons: publishing restrictions couldn't be enforced on streams, and a public demo could enable rapid AI-generated copycats. The game, featuring a Russian Roulette-style drinking night with an anime demon, has over 25,000 Steam wishlists. Developers fear AI tools could let clones finish faster and release before the original, harming its commercial success.
