Digital Sun cancels ReVamp playtest over AI clone fears
Digital Sun Games, the studio behind Moonlighter, has cancelled the public playtest for its upcoming roguelike ReVamp due to fears that the game could be reverse-engineered and cloned by AI before its official release. Marketing manager Israel Mallén told PC Gamer that sharing a build with tens of thousands of players months before launch felt like too great a risk. The studio's official statement cited recent reports of games being cloned and published before their originals, adding that broader industry discussion could push platforms to act. The decision follows Drunken Goddess Reflux cancelling its Steam Next Fest demo for similar reasons last week. The event now features over 8,000 demos, double June's count, and one game creator saw seven clones appear on Roblox within ten days of posting a video.
