Digital Sun delays ReVamp Steam playtest over AI cloning fears
Digital Sun has delayed the Steam playtest for its upcoming game ReVamp, citing concerns that AI copycats could reverse-engineer and clone the game before its official release. The studio, known for Moonlighter and Cataclismo, will instead host a smaller, more contained playtest on Discord starting October 29th, with a public Steam playtest now planned for around January. Digital Sun described sharing a build with tens of thousands of players as "too big a risk" given recent industry trends. ReVamp, a "Tower Defensevania" game, is scheduled for full release on March 25th, 2027. The developer joins other studios adapting to the gen-AI boom, including Alliance Arts, which recently cancelled a Steam Next Fest demo for Drunken Goddess Reflux over similar cloning concerns.
