Digital Sun delays ReVamp demo over genAI cloning fears
Digital Sun Games has postponed the public Steam playtest for their new game ReVamp, citing fears that generative AI could be used to clone their work before release. The developers called the risk "too big" with launch still months away. The studio, known for Moonlighter and Cataclismo, will instead host a more contained playtest on Discord starting October 29, with a public Steam test now planned for January. They urged platforms to "keep strengthening protections for original work," though they did not specify what measures they seek. The decision follows recent incidents of in-development games being reverse-engineered and cloned, prompting other developers to cancel or delay demos. Digital Sun's past action-RPGs and strategy games suggest ReVamp, a modular tower defender starring Dracula, is a substantial project rather than opportunistic content.
